Ever seen the movie “300”? This 12-week training plan is inspired by the program Gerard Butler and his crew followed to get in shape for the movie. This workout program is designed to improve muscle strength, endurance and build lean muscle mass. Getting ready for the battlefield and looking like the renowned Spartan soldiers comes at a cost, it is probably one of the hardest programs you will find around here!

Description

The sessions of this plan are based around your primary powerlifting movements with bodyweight and functional movements to improve kinesthetic. The number of workouts, sets, repetitions and volume increases from weeks 1 to 12 to increase work capacity. As you progress through the program, the sessions will become longer and much harder. Rest is key in this training plan. The program is designed as follows:

Weeks 1 – 4

5 sessions per week with a focus on refining and improving technique, and increasing lean muscle mass and strength.

Weeks 5 – 8

6 sessions per week with a focus on bodybuilding and functional movements to improve muscle size and strength. The increased number of sets and reps are meant to increase work capacity.

Weeks 9 – 12

6 sessions per week with a focus on functional movements, improving work capacity and the cardiorespiratory system, burning fat and building lean muscle mass.
